Sat.2nd Sept at Thurstable School, Maypole Road. Exhibitors from 8 a.m. (if you are a new exhibitor there will be help available). Schedules will be in some of the local shops from end of July, on our web site www.tiptreegardenclub.com or from the tel.nos. below.
The Show opens at 2 p.m. admission is £1.
. In the vegetable section Wilkin and Sons sponsor a tray of mixed vegetables and in the fruit section there is a sponsored class for a collection of fruit, there are prizes of £10- £5 & £2-50 for these classes, more information on these classes is available in the current show schedule.
Most of the fruit flowers and veg. that the exhibitors use are items from their gardens which are grown for use in the kitchen, not especially for showing, but probably growing a few more for choice for exhibiting, an allotment or large green houses etc. are not necessary to take part and enjoy the fun of entering to have a chance of winning a class or two.
.There are also the usual classes of photography, flowers, vegetables, cookery, handicrafts and floral art, there is time to get out cookery books have a look at your craft items, check your photos and the vegetable and flower garden for likely exhibits.
Criteria for showing fruit and vegetables can be found in current schedule.
There are a variety of classes in the children’s section for the under 16’s. and a prize of £10 for the child with the most points.
Any youngsters under 16 are welcome to exhibit in the adult classes, although any points won will not count towards the children’s classes.
‘A mini scarecrow’-An exhibit for children and/or adults. Max height a metre, to be exhibited on a show table.
Stalls will include Pat and Paul’s local honey, Carol’s preserves and Sue’s handmade cards. There are tables available to hire at £5. Contact one of the Tel.nos. below.
There will be a raffle and a white raffle proceeds from this are shared equally with one winner and the club.
Refreshments of tea/coffee and cakes will be available all afternoon.
Prizes, cups and certificates will be presented by Gordon Millin.
An auction of the surplus produce will be held at the end of the afternoon.
